The vision is for a reimagined STLC that is ‘animated’ all day & night and is open and accessible to artists, their audiences, and the broader St. Lawrence neighbourhood. The re-imagined STLC will deliver three important benefits for our community and the City:
A highly innovative system of seating arrangements will give the new main hall at the STLC several different options for performance spaces. From traditional layouts to open general admission settings, the experience will be magical. The hall will be able to host a full range of artists, performances, and events in ever-changing beautiful environments.
The new STLC was specifically designed to be welcoming to all with facilities available around the clock. The building will be a multi-use public facility that fills the current gaps in the live-arts ecosystem for a full range of communities in Toronto.
Located at the heart of a new arts district stretching from Union Station to the Distillery District, the STLC will anchor a vital neighbourhood in Toronto’s downtown. Linked by a new bridge to Meridian Hall, a new outdoor plaza on Scott Street will invite visitors and locals to enjoy an oasis of green.
A future facing building for a decarbonized world to meet the City's TransformTO objectives.
