Doors Open Toronto 2024 at STLC

TO Live invites you to come explore the STLC and imagine the new cultural hub with us.

TO Live invites you to tour the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts (STLC), as part of Doors Open Toronto 2024. 

This is a free event open to everyone! Activities will include Story Time with Fay & Fluffy, and Old School Family Dance Jam with Byron Abalos and Andrea Mapili.  Additionally, there will be:

  • Tactile games
  • Scavenger hunt
  • Face painting
  • Friendship bracelet making
  • Colouring zones
  • Stroller parking
  • Ice cream

Theatre tours will be offered throughout the day and our STLC presentation centre will be open where information about the future redevelopment and scale models are displayed.

STLC is situated in the historic St. Lawrence neighbourhood, home to the ten original blocks of the Town of York and recognized for its distinctive historic character.

The STLC is currently undergoing an architectural transformation to become Toronto’s premier arts and culture district. The plans include world-class performance halls, artist studios, rehearsal spaces, and 30,000 sq ft of public space, including dedicated areas for families and kids!

Schedule for May 25

Theatre Tours
10:30am-4:30pm

Theatre tours will be every 30 minutes on the half hour, beginning at 10:30am and finishing at 4:30pm. Tours will be approximately 25 minutes and will include a glimpse into the backstage world of the Bluma Appel and Jane Mallett Theatres. Please note these tours are in an historic building with stairs. Unfortunately, tours are not accessible by elevator.

Story Time with Fay & Fluffy
Bluma Appel Lower Lobby 11:30am, 2:00pm, and 3:45pm

Join drag queens Fay & Fluffy for big wigs, colourful outfits, and lots of sparkle. With every show they get kids excited to read, learn and laugh. Fay & Fluffy’s main goal is to share the message of inclusivity wherever they go, cheering on all the kids who see them to be proud of who they are, loving themselves, and being kind to one another.

Old School Family Dance Jam with Byron Abalos and Andrea Mapili
Bluma Appel Lower Lobby 10:30pm, 12:30pm and 3:00pm

Join multidisciplinary artists Byron Abalos and Andrea Mapili, and their 4-year old daughter Mayari, for an Old School Family Dance Jam! This family-friendly event will help you connect with your body as we dance to some bangers from the past.
